Software And Instructions

For a basic connection to the Internet you will need three pieces of software.
  1. A dialer with a TCP/IP stack. This software uses your modem to dial into your Internet Service Provider and provides your connection to the Internet. Once the connection is established, you can run any TCP/IP complient application including web browsers and email software..
  2. A Web Browser. The World Wide Web has become the most popular way to publish and find information on the Internet. The web browser uses your internet connection to connect to computers around the world. It retrieves HTML coded information, interprets it, and displays it on your screen in an eye catching graphical format.
  3. Email software. Studies have shown the biggest use of the Internet is to send and receive email. Email sent to you is stored on your Internet Service Providers server until you use your internet connection and your email software to reteive it. Email software also lets you answer email or compose new email messages to others. When you are ready the email software uses your Internet connection to send it on it's way to the recipients.
