Lash Publications International Receives Second APEX Award
Lash Publications International is pleased to announce that the
company has won its second APEX Award of Excellence from Communications
Concepts, Inc. APEX Awards are based on excellence in graphic design,
editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications
excellence. APEX Grand Awards honor the outstanding works in each of the
11 main categories: newsletters, magazines and journals, magapapers and
newspapers, annual reports, brochures/manuals/reports, video and
multimedia publications, Web and Intranet sites,
campaigns/programs/plans, writing, design and illustration, and special
publications. APEX Awards of Excellence recognize exceptional entries in
each of the 93 sub-categories. The panel of judges included Dr. Paul
Fisher, formerly Professor of Journalism with the University of Missouri
School of Journalism.
This year’s competition, the Eleventh Annual Awards for Publication
Excellence, received close to 4900 entries. Lash Publications received
an Award of Excellence in the feature writing sub-category for the
article, "Moving R&D Into the Networking Fastlane," written by Laurel M.
Sheppard, which was the cover story in the November/December 1998 issue
of SWE magazine (published by the Society of Women Engineers). The
article discussed the current status, technical challenges and future
outlook of Internet2.
Lash Publications received its first APEX Award of Excellence in the
technical writing sub-category in 1996 for a chapter on recycling of
ceramics and glass, published in ASM International’s Engineered
Materials Handbook, Desk Edition.

"…has the insight and the editorial experience, plus the knowledge for writing articles on very different
subjects. Referring to ceramic engineering alone, the field is vast and expands every day; however, the writing is critical and concise."
Dr. Mariano Velez, Associate Editor, Refractories Applications & News
